Closure Of University of Ibadan Due to Student Protest

There seems to be a rising trend of protest in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Just recently,  the University of Lagos was shut down due to the protest by students demanding for better living conditions and this strike was just recently called off.
Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, suffered the same fate two weeks ago, when students protested because of the death of a fellow student knocked down by a commercial motorcycle.
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, also recently suspended its students’ union government (SUG) after students protested and demanded better welfare.
Yesterday, the management of the University of Ibadan, Oyo state, released a notice to students to vacate the school premises on Tuesday 26th of April, on or before 4pm, putting a halt to academic activities until further notice. This notice was given after a protest by students over poor supply of electricity and water in halls of residence.
This has added to the growing number of universities recently closed down due to students’ unrest.
Thou the students were served this notice, which states that any student found within the school premises faces possible expulsion, majority of them have refused to vacate the school premises and said they have no intention to leave unless they are chased out.
Please find below the notice served by the School authority:
