Children have always been know to speak their minds even when you do not want them to. There are different tales of why newly born babies cannot talk, most of them pointing to the fact that when these babies are given the chance, they can do and undo with their words. When they do start to speak, parents try to ensure that they do not get into any trouble from what they say.
In Nigeria, we all have that funny childhood experience of going out with our parents and when we are asked a question that our parents deem personal or private, being cautioned in a 'coded' way. Parents have different ways of trying to caution their children in public. It could be with a slight nod of the head, a light shove, a lift of the brow, a temporary scary face or even a suspiciously bright smile. As time goes by, most of us learn to speak with discretion and reason for ourselves.
The video below is from a TV show, "Kids Say The Darndest Things" which is sponsored by Etisalat. It shows the experience of a set of children who were given a tour of the Etisalat Hub and given a chance to be Customer care representatives at the Hub. These kids had no idea that the callers were actually actors who were to call-in and see how they reacted and resolved issues. These children definitely had a lot to say to their callers.
