After School Satan Club Introduced To Schools In USA

diversity-610460In the United State of America, an extra-curricular club has been introduced to some public schools who have accepted it. The club name is The Satanic Temple (TST) and 9 schools have already signed up to introduce the program to pupils between the age of 5 and 12-years-old.

This club was formed after a ruling by the Supreme court allowing evangelical religious programmes to operate in schools. The Satanic Temple is targeting at the Good News Club, which is a Christian programme for pupils, operating in over 3500 public schools across the United States. The founders of the Temple claim that the club was formed to counter the evangelical message of "a fear of Hell and God's wrath" using "rationality, free inquiry and fun".
The Satanists, as they are called, claim that they do not worship Satan because the temple does not promote the belief in a supernatural devil. They claim to make use of the name Satan, to represent rebellion and rational inquiry.
When asked what activities would be done in the club, the Satanist spokesman and co-founder,  Lucien Greaves, said club meetings would include healthy snacks, literature lessons, creative learning activities, puzzle solving, science lessons and art projects.
He also said, “It’s critical that children understand that there are multiple perspectives on all issues and that they have a choice in how they think.”
A representative of the Liberty counsel, Matt Staver, when asked about the authorization of the TST planned clubs, confirmed that the clubs were legal, but he believed it would soon fade away due to poor attendance.
Hearing about this club and the take of the Liberty counsel, I felt very uneasy. Usually, things we underestimate and feel would fade away, forgotten, just grow stronger. It is very possible that the TST's club could grow to be stronger than most people think, if not well monitored and opposed by parents in the US. This might very well be how the antichrist would be introduced to so many young and growing children or it may be a silly club that, as the Mr Staver said, would soon be forgotten.
