At the time of the incident, the 8-month-old victim, her father and mother, lived at a Rama Mandi locality, where the couple worked at a brick kiln nearby and the accused was their neighbour.

On hearing the screams of the injured young man, villagers ran to his rescue and rushed him to the Bathinda civil hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical. Dr Ajay Gupta, who treated the victim, said both his hands were chopped off and cops brought the limbs later.
Swapan Sharma, a police officer of Bathinda, reported that "He (the father) took him near a dried up canal, beat him up badly and then tied him to a tree and finall hacked his hands off. There is nothing below the wrists now,"
"Locals alerted the police and we rushed to the spot. We picked him up, his hands, and took him to the hospital," Sharma added.
There have been reports of rape in India and this particular one is just painful. Why would a young man choose to rape a little baby? I can understand the pain of the father, that justice was not being served as quickly as he liked and so he decided to give a punishment he felt was right. I hope one day people would be more thoughtful of their actions so as not to bring unnecessary pain to others and themselves.
