The week of her departure, Anne felt reluctant and unprepared. She had spoken to her son and knew he was awaiting her arrival. A big part of her felt happy about going home and being with her family, while another part, very little she assured herself, felt reluctant to leave. She had a lot of mixed feelings with her stay in Lagos, from being awed to being frustrated, then falling in love with the drive of the people going out each day to make a living to feeling sad because of the poor living condition of some people she had seen.
Aside her thoughts on her stay in Lagos, she also had some personal issues, the subject being Ebuka. Since the first time he called, they kept communicating and he even took her to a comedy show during the weekend. When she was with him, she felt younger, happier and a little awkward. While they were conversing, she mentioned that she was travelling back to London the following week, he appeared downcast for a while, then lit up, concluding that they would keep communicating. Not one day had gone by without him calling or texting her. Thou, she tried to convince herself that he was just being nice, but she couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face whenever she saw his name show-up on her phone.
Joy seemed to have noticed her distraction the past week and questioned her about it, wanting to know if all was well. She could only nod her head and agree, before changing the topic as she did not see any reason to inform Joy that she was having conflicting feelings for a handsome, young man, who obviously saw her only as a friend.
