Indecent Dressing in Churches

The sermon against indecent dressing in churches has really gone a long way as Church administrators have started taking drastic steps to ensure rules against this are upheld.

In Churches around, most ladies dress provocatively to Church and when questioned on their dressing mode, they reply that "It is the heart that counts". They try to justify their dressing by stating that God does not look at the dressing but the

contents of their heart. What most ladies fail to realize is that the way they dress is how they would be addressed and also, they are causing possible distraction to the men in the congregation. It is normal to want to look good when coming to worship at your Father's house (God), but to dress in a way that would hinder the state of Grace of others...that is a problem.

This dressing issue does not affect ladies only, but guys also. Most guys come to Church with sagging trousers and open shirts. Come on! You are coming to worship your God, dress the part!

Recently, a Catholic Church in Cape Coast, Ghana, banned its female members from wearing provocative dresses to the Church. The Church posted photos of approved and unapproved dresses on its premises.

Also, at Living Christ Mission Church located at disciple street in Aswani, Isolo - Lagos a fight ensued between two brothers and Church ushers. The ushers tried to stop the brothers from entering the Church premises as they felt the two were not dressed appropriately. This caused a fight, which disorganized the Church service before it was brought under control by the church security. The two brothers were arrested, as they battered the ushers and were charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court for allegedly assaulting their victims. They were charged to court with conspiracy and assault under the Criminal code and they pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adedayo granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one sureties in like sum. They were remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when they will perfect their bail condition and the matter was adjourned till 11th of May 2016.
